Hello mucker, Shame we never got to meet up in Russia. I'm chuffed i changed my route now though, as i'd have been waiting a while for you eh?!?! Just a quick one mate, in Kazakhstan you'll be treated (rightly so i think) as a pilgrim and people will literally stop and give you money at the side of the road. I jest you not mate, its an insult to refuse it! One bloke we met got £30.00 from just one car!! Might help with the old finances if you ever get through Russia! You'll enjoy Russia, the people were some of the most friendly we came across, (they literally stopped us and insisted we stayed the night, with the most incredible hospitality). Like all the countries we went through, the people were amazing to travellers, (those under their own steam anyway) as you well know, its the politicians that f**k it all up. Remember what John Lennon said, "we all shine on, Like the moon and the stars and the sun".... (mind you, he also said i am the egg man, they are the egg men, i am the walrus, goo, goo, gjoob!)!!! Keep going you f*****g legend! All the 3 Para blokes i know are well proud of all your achievements mucker. Baba Jim reckons you always were an oddball!! Loads of love and manly hugs. x

Karl, Rather than waiting around in the hope of the Russian Visa regulations changing, have you considered applying for a temporary Russian resident's permit? That would allow you to stay in Russia for up to a year. You would need to be sponsored by a Russian family. If you have not already done so this could be worth looking into.

Karl, I found your site quite by accident. I was enthralled by some of the stories and videos. An adventure that cannot be lived by most of us, but one we can share in to some small extent by watching. When you get back on the road again maybe you will be able to do daily blog updates if the technology permits. Perhaps the equipment manufacturers would make good sponsors (next generation iphones/satphones that can work at low temps.). It would be a really good advert for them. I am fully with you when you assert that you don’t need some cause in order to do something awesome like this. Keep going and do it for those of us cannot. All the best, Pete

I am a fan. I had the same Idea to cross the bearing strait on foot about 2 years ago when I found out that Bushby had done it in the previous year. I'm only upset that I didn't think of it first.
